Alpha Saloon
Bio
Alpha Saloon
are widely known for their unique style of Ultra Pop: big cinema
by means of Zukunftsmusik. Great and bona fide timeless songs in mellifluous wide
screen format. Take-no-prisoners-style.
While reggae bands are usually playing reggae, Emo bands playing Emo, and metalbands
are of course playing metal, Alpha Saloon are playing Ultra Pop – thus simply leaving
every single song the right to sound like what it wants to sound like.
Just as heterogenous and flamboyant is their following: it includes art school folks and
fashionistas as well as punks, die hard cry-babies, mad cultists and happy goths that
regularly come to see the shows and have a good time.
The four young maîtres-musiciens, a collective of hard rocking nuclear physicists as it is,
have (altogether) spent almost 200 years playing with the finest orchestras at the worlds
leading opera houses – but still never quit their dayjobs as teenage russian lesbians.
A night with Alpha Saloon: living and enjoying music at the Château. And then some, of
course...
Alpha Saloon have to date entertained a multitude of audiences: at various
open air festivals, gallery openings, and in clubs, pubs and concert halls across munich
and southern Germany. In October 2006 the full length debut album "Hello Weltgeist!" –
recorded at the renowned PLAN 1 studios in Munich – was released on the bands own
label, Elder Sound Records. Airplay on several Campus and independent radio stations
across Germany and Switzerland.
Alpha Saloon are:
Ahab (voc, g, b, kb, prg)
Dr. Ultra (voc, dr, acc, g, kb)
Sugar (voc, kb, tp, turntables, stylophone, prg)
Ye Olde Bob (b, dance)
Alpha Saloon Live
While Alpha Saloon are a full four piece band in the studio, they usually enter the stage
as a two-person outfit, consisting of Ahab (providing guitars and vocals), and the grim
Dr. Ultra (on drums, vocals and occasional keyboards). So their live sound is of course a
lot rawer, stripped down and deconstructive, with vivid dynamics and an obvious crush
for rough and ready rock and roll. On the other hand, the reduced setup allows them to
explore the field of awkward acoustic ballads as well.
